Chiffon Study
Ella worked on three large pieces that all incorporated chiffon. A large tapestry, a mold sculpture with sewn pillows, and a sewn quilt with a hand welded frame.
Sand Sculpting
Ella and her team won first place at 2026’s Cannon Beach Sand Sculpting Competition in the Master’s Category. The year prior they got 2nd. Ella enjoys sculpting animals from figurines.
Paintings
Ella has been painting with acrylics since she was a child. Her art is often inspired by faces she finds to be interesting or surreal concepts.
Weaving & Textile Art
Ella was fascinated by weaving when she signed up for a class on a whim in college. She experimented with working on the loom but also incorporated some weaving techniques into nature and made some social practice weaving works. She also likes to make embroidery work as gifts.
Puppets
Puppets are Ella’s favorite subject to teach in secondary education. This is a long process that involves wire, newspaper stuffing, masking tape, plaster, paper clay, paint, and fabric.
Miniatures
Ella created a viral sensation when making a mini museum as a gift and putting it on Tik Tok. She likes to create small looks into people’s lives by making dioramas in the form of wall art or doll houses.
Ella has always been a hobbyist of sorts and teaching was a great outlet for this attribute. She made sculptures, sewed stuffed animals, and painted/drew many examples for students who were more visual learners.
